Cleaning Solutions

Cleaning Solution to Buy for Most Piercings

Sterile Saline Wound Wash (Available HERE at Emerald Tattoo, or at Target, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, etc.)

Cleaning solution to buy for oral piercings

In addition to the saline wound wash spray, please purchase ALCOHOL FREE mouthwash (Target brand pictured). Please DO NOT use TheraBreath brand mouthwash!

Cleaning Instructions

For Most Body Piercings

Lobes, Helix, Industrial, Outer Lip, Eyebrow, Nostril, Daith, Rook, Navel, Nipples, Tragus, Lobe Stretching, Conch, Septum, Dermals

• Clean twice daily.
• Saline rinse as needed during healing. For certain placements, it may be easier to apply using a clean q-tip saturated with saline solution.
• Let saline AIR DRY on your piercings after all crusties have been removed.

Forn Oral Piercings

Tongue, Inner Lip, Smilie, Frownie, Labret, Ashley, Medusa

• Every time you eat, drink, or smoke (minimum of twice a day), rinse your mouth with a small amount of alcohol-free mouthwash. (My personal favorite is the BLUE Target or Walmart brand)

Precautions & Avoidance

• Avoid for 2 weeks after Oral Piercing:
  • Alcohol & Tobacco products
  • Heavy kissing and intimate activities
  • Spicy, crunchy, yeasty or bacteria-filled foods such as beer, milk, and cheese
  • Straws, or any other kind of sucking motion
• Things to avoid with ANY Piercing:
  • Do not sleep on your piercings.
  • Do not twist your jewelry
  • Do not take out your jewelry
  • Avoid any trauma such as friction from clothing, excessive motion of the area, playing with the jewelry, and vigorous cleaning.
  • Avoid all oral contact, rough play, and contact with others' bodily fluids on or near your piercing during healing.
  • Avoid submerging the piercing in unhygienic, still bodies of water such as lakes, pools, hot tubs, etc. for at LEAST 2-3 months.
  • Avoid all beauty and personal care products on or around the piercing including cosmetics, lotions, and sprays.
  • Don't hang charms or any object from your jewelry until the piercing is fully healed.
  • Physical activities such as bathing, recreational water activities, gardening or contact with animals should be avoided during the healing process.
• The Absolute "No-No's":
  • Contact Solution or Nasal Rinse
  • Bactine, Hydrogen Peroxide, or Alcohol
  • Neosporin or Tea Tree Oil
  • Therabreath
  • Crushed up Aspirin tablets

Signs of Infection & Healing

Signs of infection include prolonged tenderness and swelling; heavy scabbing; pussing yellow and green; pimples; lines of redness going towards the heart and elevated body temperatures.

Staph infection is caused by Staphylococci bacteria that exists everywhere on the human body, and is sometimes unavailable for certain people, however very rare. It can be identified by very large painful pimples or ingrown hair type lesions. Contact with animals and other people's sweat and body fluids on your new piercing are often the source. If any of these signs occur, please seek medical attention.

Having properly fitted jewelry is very important for all piercings. Below are generalizations on full healing times, but staying in contact with your piercer about your specific piercing needs is recommended. Everybody heals a little differently.

• Cartilage: 6 months
• Oral piercings: 3 months
• Nipples: 6 months
• Septum: 6-8 weeks
• Nostrils: 3-4 months
• Dermal tops: 6 months

Instrucciones para limpiar

Frecuencia: Dos veces a dia

• Enjuagar con saline cuando necesita, hay lugares que son más fácil para limpia con consejos, también con el saline.
• Deja que la solución se seque con el aire después de limpia.

Instrucciones para limpiar perforación Oral

• Después de comer, beber, y fumar enjuagar con bucal sin alcohol (mínimo dos veces al día). Recomendamos la marca de Walmart o Target.

Cosas para Evitar

• Con perforación Oral (Evitar por 2 semanas):
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco
  • Besos y actividades sexual
  • Alimentos con levadura, como leche, cerveza, queso, y otros
  • Movimientos de succión
• Cosas para Evitar con todos aretes:
  • No duerma encima de tu arete.
  • No toques su arete.
  • Cuidate con maquillaje, no pone encima o cerca de su arete.
  • No hay movimiento ni contacto excesivo durante el proceso de curación.

  • CONTACT SOLUTION OR NASAL RINSE
  • Bactine
